Important message from Lindquist Dental Clinic for Children – March 15, 2019

As many of you may have already heard, the Peninsula School District (PSD) has purchased the Jim and Carolyn Milgard HOPE Center from the Boys and Girls Club of South Puget Sound and the PSD is planning on building a school in that facility.  Unfortunately, with this change, Lindquist Dental Clinic for Children (LDCC) needs to close our Gig Harbor clinic, as it is located within the facility purchased by PSD.

With this upcoming change, LDCC further evaluated our current structure and capacity.  It became clear, through our evaluation process, that in order for LDCC to continue to optimally serve our patients we must consolidate our locations.  Unfortunately, this means that we also will be closing our South Tacoma clinic, which is located within the Donald G. Topping HOPE Center.  Sadly, on April 1, 2019 LDCC will simultaneously discontinue providing services at both the Gig Harbor and the South Tacoma clinics.

THERE IS GOOD NEWS!!!

The good news is that LDCC will still be serving children and youth ages 0-20 regardless of a family’s ability to pay!!!  In addition, patients haven’t lost the ability to see their favorite Dentists and Dental Assistants as our fabulous team, who have been providing services through both our Gig Harbor and South Tacoma clinics, will continue to provide excellent dental care to all of our Puget Sound area children, but now through our Bremerton or Parkland clinics.

These changes enable LDCC the ability to serve all of our current patients (with room for new patients as well), fully staff, optimally utilize our Bremerton and Parkland facilities and continue to fulfill our mission of providing “accessible, compassionate and effective dental care to Puget Sound Children in need” with no child being turned away due to their family’s inability to pay!!!

We realize this is a big change and may be inconvenient to many families who may have further to travel to get to their child/children’s dental appointments.  We are hopeful that because LDCC sees a child on average of between 2-3 times annually, that the families we have served through our Gig Harbor and Tacoma clinics will continue to choose LDCC to be their child/children’s ongoing dental home, only now through our Bremerton or Parkland clinics.

Our patient services coordinators are working diligently to personally call all of our Gig Harbor and South Tacoma patients. They are starting with family’s that already have appointments scheduled at the Gig Harbor or South Tacoma clinic from April 1st on and will then be connecting with all the rest of the families we have served through our Gig Harbor or South Tacoma clinics to offer them an appointment at either our Bremerton or Parkland Clinic; whichever clinic that is most convenient for the family.

Although we will be calling all of our Gig Harbor and South Tacoma clinics’ families, we realize everybody has busy schedules and it is sometimes difficult to connect.  Please feel free to call us at 253-539-7445 or 360-377-0559 to reschedule or to schedule a new appointment.

If you are a community partner, PLEASE continue to refer families to LDCC as we have the desire and capacity to continue to fulfill our mission of serving Puget Sound children in need through our Bremerton and Parkland clinics.

We look forward to continue to serve children in need throughout the Puget Sound!

Sincerely,

Carolyn Weyrick
